The .cat domain present at CENTR Jamboree 2024 in Copenhagen
From May 29 to 31, the city of Copenhagen hosted the annual CENTR Jamboree meeting, the organization that brings together various European state domains and of which .cat is an associate member. The congress focused on crucial and shared interest topics such as security in the digital environment, the new NIS2 regulations, and the presentation of new studies, tools, and proposals by the members. Additionally, the 25th anniversary of the .dk domain, the hosts of the event, was celebrated with several commemorative activities.
During the congress, colleagues from the .cat Foundation participated in several of the scheduled activities. Roger Serra, director of the .cat Foundation, led a workshop organized by UE-ISAC (Information Sharing and Analysis Center). The objective of the workshop was to develop a crisis plan to deal with a simulated cyberattack.
Beatriz Guzmán, Director of Domains, gave a presentation on internationalized domain names (IDNs) of the .cat domain. Currently, special characters such as “ç” only represent 2% of the total .cat domains. During the presentation, she emphasized the importance of continuing to promote these IDNs among the population. Her intervention was a reminder of the linguistic richness that domains can reflect and the need to encourage their use.
On the other hand, Pep Masoliver, Head of Technology, took advantage of the congress to delve into data integration with the CENTR organization, a key step in the international cooperation of the .cat domain.
In addition to their interventions, the .cat team had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the .es, .nl, .cy, and .eu domains to explore potential future collaborations, strengthening ties and cooperation among the different European domain registries.
