Why should you take part in the Wapps Awards?
The Wapps Awards celebrate the best websites built by students across the Catalan-speaking territories. Here is what they are and how to enter.
Every year, hundreds of groups of students from Catalan-speaking territories present their web projects at the Wapps Awards. If you are already working with the Dotació .cat, entering the competition is the next step to give visibility to the websites your students have created.
What are the Wapps Awards?
The Wapps Awards recognise the best web projects in Catalan developed through the Dotació .cat. Groups of students from the final cycle of primary school, secondary school (ESO), sixth form (Batxillerat) and Vocational Training (both intermediate and advanced levels) from all Catalan-speaking territories can take part. The competition culminates each year in an awards ceremony where the best projects in each category are recognised.
Why is it worth taking part?
The Wapps Awards are not just a competition: they are an opportunity to connect classroom work with the real world. Taking part allows students to:
- Strengthen digital skills, putting into practice everything learned throughout the year.
- Foster creativity, with the freedom to choose the topic and format of the project.
- Work on communication in Catalan in a real and meaningful technological environment.
- Give visibility to projects beyond the walls of the school.
- Develop communication skills: finalist groups must record a video explaining their project and present it at the awards ceremony.
- Live a motivating experience that connects students with the professional digital world.
How does the competition work?
The process is straightforward. Once the teacher is registered with the Dotació .cat and the students have created their web project, all that’s needed is to enter it in the competition before the deadline. From there, a jury made up of professionals from the digital and education sectors reviews all submitted projects, announces the finalists and, finally, the awards are presented.
