How to send and receive emails from your .cat domain via Outlook/Hotmail
Do you have a .cat domain and want to manage your emails directly from your Outlook/Hotmail account? In this guide we explain how to set it up step by step.
To configure it, you will need:
1. An active Outlook or Hotmail account and a Microsoft 365 personal or business subscription to be able to add more than one account.
2. An email account created with your .cat domain. You can create this account with your hosting provider, which is often the same as your registrar. If you haven’t created it yet, you can do so from your registrar’s control panel.
3. The connection details for this account: the SMTP server, the port and the password. You’ll find them in your registrar’s control panel, under the email section.
If you don’t know where to find these details: contact your registrar and ask for the SMTP configuration for your email account.
Receiving and sending .cat emails in Outlook or Hotmail
With this configuration, emails arriving at your .cat address will appear directly in your Outlook inbox.
1. Open outlook.office.com and click on the settings icon (the small cog in the top right corner).

2. Go to Accounts and Your accounts and click Add an account.
3. Enter your .cat address and your account password.

4. Click «Show more» and fill in the connection details:
- IMAP server: enter mail.yourdomain.cat, or the one you’ll find in your registrar’s control panel.
- Port: select the port indicated by your registrar.

- Secure connection box: tick the option indicated by your registrar.

5. Click Continue to save the configuration and verify the connection.

6. Enter your email address and password again to log in and press Continue.

7. Once done, a message will appear confirming that the account has been successfully synchronised.

With this configuration, you’ll be able to write emails from Outlook/Hotmail with your .cat address as the sender. When composing each email, you’ll be able to choose which sender address you want to use.
